1989
The Beginning
More than 30 years ago in a land that was at the time called Yugoslavia the newlyweds Dijana and Renato Škoberne decided to start a joint business venture. With a great deal to gain, but even more to lose, they started what would today be called a "garage" startup. Going against all odds in the communist environment that did not approve of bold private entities and with scarce savings, they not only succeeded, but created a company that keeps on thriving and making a difference.
1990
Business idea
Pikas was established as a small company which in cooperation with “Srebrni loti” Renato Škoberne s.p., produced silver products end collected and processed waste. The name PIKAS is an acronym in nature which stands for “Proizvodnja In kooperacija Anod in Spajk” or translated Production and Cooperation of Anodes and Silver alloys. The production of silver products for industry from recycled silver was a business idea from the very beginning. As demand for silver products increased, so did the need for recycling materials.
2004
Recycling and waste collecting center
As the business grew new facilities for recycling and storage of waste was needed. In 2004 the opportunity presented itself and we did not hesitate. We bought and renovated new facilities for recycling and collecting waste in industrial zone Poljubinj that we are still proud of today. With providing quality services and fair payment terms the recycling business grew and we started looking for opportunities outside borders of Slovenia.
2004
Eko Metal, Serbia
Always bringing high quality services to as many people as possible, we expanded to Serbia, took over a wire harness producing company Entes d.o.o. and turned its production facilities into advanced recycling space. This was the first page in the story of Eko-Metal d.o.o. The company solidly positioned itself in the market and keeps on growing and writing new chapters in the field of sustainability and recycling in Serbia.
2006
Eko Metals, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Our vision has no limits which we have proved with expansions across borders. In 2006 we entered Bosnia and Herzegovina, founded Eko-metals d.o.o. in Bijeljina and provided reliable and sustainable services to another country with which we now not only share our past, but also the future.
2014
New building
In 2014 Aurenis built new facilities in industrial zone Poljubinj, near Tolmin. Since we work hand in hand it was only logical that Pikas also moves the business seat of the company to the new building.
2015
Young personnel and additional premises
In 2015 Matjaž Pirc took over the management of Pikas d.o.o. from Dijana and Renato Škoberne. New ideas and energy were quickly reflected in the company's results. With the continuous expansion of programs, purchasing and sales markets and storage capacities, we continuously ensure the conditions for further development. We expanded the existing recycling and waste collection center by purchasing additional warehouse and land in 2015.
2019
Additional 2.100+ m2 warehouse capacity
To be able to offer our clients sufficient logistics and warehouse capacity for used telecommunication equipment, we have purchased additional building dedicated solely to storing used equipment for reuse.
2021
Additional 3.300+ m2 warehouse/yard capacity
By 2021 our list of long-term contracts with suppliers got so long, that more land for operations was needed. And this time we really got lucky as we managed to get the land that was physically connected to our existing one.
